The Do’s and Don’ts of a Blender

Blender is a tool or machine generally used in the kitchen to mix ingredients or make purees. The blender runs through motor powered blades that swiftly rotate and chop, crush, and mix foods and can even make baby food purees. When you use this appliance then you must take care of it and beware of the do and don’ts for the blender.

Blender Do’s

  • You should use a continuous blend button when making a drink, cocktails, dressings, marinades and liquid foods which need mixing.
  • Use the pulse button when blending foods which need only short bursts of power such as for nuts and ice. Also use it when you are blending drinks containing ice cubes and frozen fruits.
  • Always cut food into cubes of 1 to 2 inches square in order to achieve a smooth and even blending performance.
  • A blender will perform well when jar is filled only half or 1/4 for blending. By following this, motor and blades work efficiently while thicker mixtures will make it difficult for the appliance to perform properly.
  • Keep in mind to place liquid ingredients first in the blender and then blend solid ingredients later on. This would help you in better mixing and would not harm your machine as well.
  • We have to use spatula for scraping down thick or dry food materials from the sides of the blender jar while blending.

Blender Dont’s

  • Pulse for 10 seconds when blending heavy mixtures; continuous running of machine in this case may harm your appliance.
  • You should not run machine continuously for more than 1-2 minutes in one go.
  • Operate the blender when jar’s lid is firmly on top; otherwise liquid in the jar may come out and mess your kitchen.
  • Do not use or consider a jar as a storage container.  If you are interested in further information on blender, checkout: best blender – reviews & top picks.
  • Do not take away the blender jar from the base unit while the machine is on. Make sure the blender is off once you are removing the jar from the base unit.
  • Avoid overloading blender with too many food items in the jar in one go.
